Picking the Perfect Blue

So how do you go about choosing the right shade? It all depends on the feel and style you are going for. If you want a classy classic or grander dark feel, you could go for a deep navy velvet, a suede effect or similar.

These rich dark blues are really on point with current interior design trends.

If the look you want is a light, airy or beachy feel, the middle and lighter shades of blue are better as they promote the feeling of light and space in a home.

Lighter blues work especially well for smaller rooms as they increase the feeling of space.

Mixing it up

Mixing colours in your window treatments is also a very popular trend.

One idea is to mix blue and grey as the two colours contrast perfectly, reinforcing the freshness and relaxing nature of blue. Light grey often works best, because it contrasts the blue beautifully.

For more of a contrast, navy blue teamed with white or ivory always looks so smart.
